內政部建築研究所自105年起推動永續智慧社區創新實證示範計畫。該計畫以節能減碳為主軸，應用網路、雲端及物聯網等智慧化技術，考量範場域之特性及使用者需求。在共通平臺上，整合能源、安全防災、健康照護、維護管理及其他智慧生活等項目，提供客製化之整合性、永續性服務，以創造幸福有感生活。
在105年遴選出來的大專院校場域類別中，國立中興大學率先完成該年度計畫內容，展現階段性成果。中興大學在105年度硬體系統建置部分雖不多，但對於軟體開發(行動裝置APP、網頁設計)、計畫執行過程紀錄與資訊整合的人機介面(數據可視化)暨透明公開度則是唯一。透過目前已上線的網頁已可以一窺中興大學整體參與永續智慧社區創新實證示範計畫的全貌與進展。另外，中興大學健康步道空氣檢測系統，將感測器蒐集的資料經過整理轉化為可視化的資訊呈現，讓檢閱者一目了然。
本次「永續智慧社區創新實證計畫智慧應用技術推廣會」邀請中興大學的計畫主持人、參與技術開發、服務的廠商與執行團隊報告與經驗分享規劃過程、工程技術內容、控制介面現場展示。期使目前刻正參與或規劃智慧社區、智慧城市的單位可以相互學習參考，縮短學習曲線。
